After two hard fought scrimmages against Wills Point and Mount Vernon, the Panthers football team is now getting ready for the big task ahead. The official high-school football season starts today as the Panthers will travel to Sabine to take on the Cardinals.

“I expect this team to be a problem this year,” Senior varsity football player Ashton Thomas said. “We worked our tails off this off-season and we finally get to see the fruits of our labor shine.”

Ever since the summer started the Panthers have been at work for their strength and conditioning camps and two a days. The coaching staff has seen some changes over the past year, and now after a summer long with the players, the coaches will prepare for the new season grind starting this week.

“I started playing football my 7th grade year, I feel that I’ve changed for the better and can’t wait to see how I turn out after this year ends,” Senior varsity football player Tony Natera said.

After the senior class of last year left, the now rising senior class is hoping to lead this team to success. This season will mark for some of the seniors their last times playing football, and after years of practicing and playing these seniors are ready for the last run. So get out and get ready for some football, as Panthers football is back finally.

“We have a lot of confidence in ourselves and I definitely can see us winning 7 plus games this year,” Ashton Thomas said.
