Panthers Baseball Updates

The Panthers got a victory over the Van Vandals by a score of 4-0 (February 26) . Easton Ballard was lights out as he didn’t allow a single run. Ballard allowed just one hit and striking out ten over 6 innings of work. The Panthers got things moving in the first inning when Jax Stovall singled on the first at bat of the game. Blake Barlow promptly drove in one run when he singled to left. #2 took the loss for Van. He allowed eight hits and four runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out six. The Panthers collected eight hits. Ethan Foster and Jax Stovall all collected multiple hits for the game. Stovall and Foster each collected two hits to lead the Panthers.

Spring Hill Panthers varsity squad defeated Pine Tree 8-4 (February 28). Pine Tree jumped out to an early lead, but the Panthers battled back and pulled away in the 2nd inning by scoring 6 runs. In the second Jordan Hodges was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, an error scored one run for SH Panther Varsity, Marshall Lipsey drew a walk, scoring one run, Colin Martin singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run, and Blake Barlow drew a walk, scoring one run. Marshall Lipsey got the victory on the mound for the Panthers. Lipsey lasted one and one-third innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while walking zero. Colin Martin, Brennan Ferguson, and Ethan Foster all collected hits in the game.

Panther Varsity falls to Jefferson 5-1 despite out-hitting the Bulldogs (February 28). The Panthers fell behind early and were not able to recover. Jefferson opened up the scoring by tacking on 4 runs. The Panthers would answer with one run. Marshall Lipsey took the loss for the Panthers. He lasted 3 innings, allowing 2 hits and 4 runs while striking out 5 and walking one. Jax Stovall went 3-for-3 at the plate and led the Panthers in hits.

Panther Varsity defeated Gladewater 12-2 (February 28) thanks to a strong start. Panther Varsity secured the victory thanks to nine runs in the first inning. The Panthers scored on a single by Colin Martin, a double by Ethan Foster, a single by Bryant King, a walk by Jax Stovall, a double by Marshall Lipsey, and a triple by Blake Barlow in the first inning. Kelan McKay earned the win on the bump for the Panthers. The right-hander went four innings, allowing two runs on one hit and striking out six. Panthers saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game. Lipsey and King had two hits apiece leading the Panthers offensively.
