Patience. Poise. Precision.
The Lady Panthers headed to Pittsburg to take on Pleasant Grove after a disappointing display against White Oak just one day prior to the matchup. But this young team showed no fear from the moment they stepped on the court. It was game on for the Panthers as they opened the Class 4A playoffs with a 5 set win (25-19, 25-18, 15-25, 15-12) over the Hawks.
This win marks the first postseason victory under the direction of head coach Andrew Harbison and the first bid since 2015.
Freshman Carolann Bowles was a beast on the outside with 24 total kills in the match. Carli Manasse, another freshman, hammered out 5 kills and 6 blocks. These two powerhouse newcomers give promise for the future of this team, and this season.
Molly Seale added 12 kills to the numbers and Caylee Mayfield totaled seven. But, it was a team effort overall that put the match in the win column for the Panthers, 6 players with a kill and 10 with a dig.
Round two will be played on Tuesday, November 3 against Kaufman, location and time to be determined.
