2019-2020 school year will be the first time I will get the chance to vote in the elections of political office. Obviously the most significant of which would be the presidential office election, which essentially dictates the role America will fit into for the next 4 years. A presidential election is something that most people who have lived in the United States their entire life, take completely for granted. America is in the small minority of countries that have a democratic election process, and even this does not guarantee a free and fair election. Even in the ‘freest’ country in the world, America, cooperation are still openly buying elections, such as Goldman-Sachs and Morgan Stanley. This model of government is most equivalent to an oligarchy in which the wealthiest group of people make decisions for the entire country. Despite all of this, the purpose of this recurring article is to spread some political knowledge to our general population of students so that they can be equipped to engage in political discussion and vote with intelligence.

Multiple political perspectives is necessary to ensure a ‘fair and balanced’ spread of political information, and at the Panthers Paw News we have an ethical responsibility to uphold journalistic integrity. It is for this reason that I will be having a guest writer on all following ‘Political Perspective’ articles. To be clear I currently politically identify as a social democrat based on my particular perspective, so I will be offering the guest writer slot to someone who has a more conservative bias than I would. If you have any thoughts or comments you would like to share on our next Panthers Paw Newspaper edition, please email me: [email protected] or [email protected]t.
