Dr. Wayne Guidry officially took the helm of Spring Hill ISD this week. On Wednesday, April 3, he met with the high school faculty for a brief question and answer session and to set the tone for the coming years.

“I fully intend my kids to graduate from Spring Hill High School,” Superintendent Dr. Wayne Guidry said,” I am in it for the long haul, committed to my own personal children and to yours.”

Dr. Guidry expressed that a positive culture with competent members is a real treasure, one that should not be taken for granted. He recanted his mission trip to Prague and how the city was full of adventure and treasures, yet often overlooked by tourists.

“We, like Prague, are the Hidden Treasure of East Texas,” Guidry said,” Our continued pledge to excellence will shed light on our great school.”

Teacher’s questions were encouraged and open dialogue was a continuous theme as introductions were made and relationships began to build. March may be over, but the madness continues for true fans as one question thrown out for the new superintendent was, “Who is your favorite in the Final Four?”

“I am afraid I will have to get back to you on that,” Guidry responded. In the midst of the move, the mother-in-law, and  “mothering” to his two children until Mrs. Guidry arrives, his focus has been everywhere but basketball.

Guidry pledged to get to know the district through observation, interviews, and experiences before deciding the vision for the future, allowing teachers to breathe a sigh of relief and exhale-no immediate or dramatic changes.

“I have seen many superintendents come in strong with a great vision for the wrong district”, Guidry said, “I don’t know what you do yet- how can I have a preconceived notion of what you should do?”

Guidry left teachers feeling energized and empowered with his leadership style. Welcome to SH Guidry family!
