Emotional Victory Leads Lady Panthers To Quarterfinals

The Lady Panthers soccer team will play Pleasant Grove in the regional quarterfinal round of the playoffs in Mount Pleasant on Friday, April 5 at 7:00 PM. This match comes off the heels of a close 3-2 victory over Chapel Hill on Tuesday evening, a game not for the faint of heart.
Five minutes into the game, senior, Olyvia Dowell struck the back of the net for the Lady Panthers, spotting them an early lead. After an equalizer from Chapel Hill the score was tied at one a piece. Late in the first half, sophomore, Jayme Dowell led an offensive attack that resulted in her second goal of the postseason.This goal gave the Lady Panthers a 2-1 advantage heading into the half.
The score would remain 2-1 until 12 minutes into the second half, when Chapel Hill tied the game once more. This score stood inside of the final minute of regulation. After a long, grueling battle the Lady Panthers would get the lift they needed from a familiar star. With 28 seconds left in regulation, Olyvia Dowell took a shot from the top of the box and delivered her second goal of the night, this one a game-winner.
The Lady Panthers will look to carry the momentum gained from this emotional victory into their quarterfinal matchup on Friday. A Pack Bus will be provided for all students needing a ride to and from the game. The bus will leave for Mount Pleasant at 5:45 PM.
