Spring Hill Panthers take 6 runners to represent the Hill in Austin for the 92nd annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. This event is one of the biggest track and field meets in America. The races take place at the University of Texas’s Mike A. Myers Stadium with preliminary heats on March 29th and finals on March 30. This year 950 teams with 7,201 individual athletes qualified to enter the meet. Competitors range in talent and age from outstanding high school freshman to elite college seniors and even Olympic hopefuls.

“I’m excited and proud to announce that Spring Hill has guys qualifying again this year!” Coach Michael Colvin said.

Sawyer Smith earned a spot in the 100M dash and the Mile Relay qualifiers are Jay Rockwell, Zach Henry, Casey Mudoh, Austin Martin and Vencent Rockwell– all with a shot at the “gold”.

“We did not make the finals,”Colvin said, “but we ran a 3:34.12 in the prelims.”

The girls have some stand out sprinters on their team as well. With Ansley Nichols, Ashlee Blake, Azaria Jones, Felicity Jacob, Erin Gregson, and Tyra Tatum qualifying in the 4x 100. The girls came in 3rd in their heat with an overall time of 50.7.

“These girls work hard, “Coach Whitney Hattier said, “I am proud of each of them. Although we did not advance past the preliminary heat, it was a great experience.”

This head to head competition was tough, and the Panthers represented with speed and skill.

“It was an honor to participate,” Colvin said.
