The Spring Hill Panthers Powerlifting team traveled to Redwater Thursday afternoon for their last regular season meet. The Panthers had a tremendous night with personal bests and record breaking performances. Brian Vaca and Zach Henry battled in the 148 lb class throughout the evening with both competitors setting new personal bests in multiple lifts. In the end Brian Vaca topped Zach Henry by only ten pounds with a total of 930lbs. Matthew Shankles set season bests for himself in the 181 lb class with a total of 1040 and a fifth place finish. Michael Marrs had his best performance of the year in the in the 198 lb class with a total lift and second place finish with 1118 lbs. Michael also broke the school record in that weight class in the deadlift with a 510lb lift. Richard Matkin finished third in the 198 lb weight class with a total lift of 1250 lbs. Vaughn Bufkin increased all of his personal best marks with a total of 1355 and a second place finish in the 198 class. Brandon Krenek increased his season totals and placed fourth in the 242 lb class with 1165 lb total. Jacob Kimbrough finished his year with a great performance and a second place finish in the 242 lb class with a total of 1180 lbs. Colby Bowles had his best lifts of the year as well. Colby finished in second place in the 275 lb class with a total lift of 1200 lbs. Carson Manasse continued his success in the SHW class with a first place finish and a total weight of 1425 lbs. The boys team had an amazing night of competition and finished first overall. The top 12 in each weight class for Region III Division II will advance to the Regional Powerlifting meet on March 9th in Malakoff. These results can be found at http://www.thspa.us/

The Girls Powerlifting team had a very strong performance as well. Alahondra Guerrero finished third in the 123 lb weightclass with a total lift of 495 lbs. Taylor Brewer had a very strong performance and finished third in her 165 lb weightclass as well with a total lift of 605 lbs. Alyssa Gallegos finished fourth in a very competitive 198 lb weightclass with a total lift of 645 lbs. Rachel Petree had her best performance of the year and finished second with a total of 865 lbs. The top 12 in each weight class for Region III Division II will advance to the Regional Powerlifting meet on March 2nd in Fairfield.
