Need something new for 2019? Maybe it should start with a new schedule. That is, if you have a good reason to switch over. If you are planning to switch, then you must get in contact with your school’s counselor. Changes must be backed by a parent or guardian, and will not be honored simply because you do not like a class.

“If you wish to change your schedule, then you must have a legitimate reason and do so before January 11,’ announced Mrs. Childers, school counselor.

When asked if they planned on changing, many students didn’t know if they could. “I was really wanting to, but I’m not sure if I can,” replied Ale Guerrero, freshman. “I don’t like some of my electives and don’t find them useful, so it’d be really nice to be able to switch.” Another student also shared Ale’s feelings towards the subject. “I wish, but we aren’t allowed to without really good reason,” expressed Laura Rowe, freshman.

Teachers tend to be the opposite, though, and instead encourage the rule. When asked their thoughts on schedule changes, teachers tended to oppose. “I wish we didn’t have them,” answered Mrs. Blalock, journalism teacher. “The second semester should be a completion of the first.” After all, no teacher would want their class to suddenly disappear.

“Parents or guardians must request the changes, not only the student,” stated Mrs. Childers, school counselor. “Spring Hill does not recommend students switching their schedule unless they can provide valid reasons.” One thing you shouldn’t change on your schedule, though, is having a Merry Christmas!
