Friday, September 14 was one of the most important days for Spring Hill High School Football fans and players. The infamous “Battle of Hawkins Creek” game is a notorious cross-town rivalry. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Spring Hill vs White Oak fight for the title.

White Oak led the victory count coming into the game at 26 -23 wins. But, the Panther Nation closed that gap Friday night by adding another W to their column, leaving the count at 26-24.

This is not the first White Oak win for this year’s Seniors. Last year the Panthers “Smoked the Oak” in an intense game. But, coming into this match, Spring Hill was winless for the season. This game’s opening drive hinted to another loss. The Panthers made a penalty that cost them a touchdown and then missed a long field goal. On their second possession, the Panthers drove down to the 5, only to have White robbed of the ball. But then, the offensive line stepped up and created big plays and the defense forced multiple turnovers. By the third quarter, they had an impressive 35-0 lead over the Roughnecks. The Panthers ended the night at 42-14. Fans were on their feet until the final play. On the night,  Daryn Beck carried the ball 12 times for 131 yards and put 24 points on the board. Quarterback, Gage White, completed 6 of 14 for 129 yards.

Fans and players alike can be proud of this performance. Another one for the history books.

It’s a great day to be a Panther.
